Mike and Maurita
Mike and Maurita were a couple we
got to know long before we actually met and married them - having
talked about their Scottish
castle wedding for well over a year.
I am sure there are many of you out there who will equate with their
given situation - they really wanted to get married in Scotland,
but they had all sorts of other plans and commitments , that albeit
were not more important than them getting married
in Scotland, but
they wanted to complete before they did so. Namely one large garage
that needed to be built - it was a constant source of amusement between
all of us how this garage took precedence over their marriage plans.
However the day finally came when they made their decisions to go
ahead and come to Scotland to be married, to this far off land that
they both loved and wanted more than anywhere to celebrate their
wedding.
They were great outdoor people with a love of open countryside, water and space
- their ideal chapel would overlook water if possible and be that little haven
away from prying eyes or the bustle of every day life, it was to be somewhere
romantic and intimate, with peace and quietness, and their venue for those spectacular
photos had to be somewhere that would imprint in their minds for the rest of
their days, a Scottish Castle with surrounding hills in vibrant colours of heather
with autumnal trees and foliage. We found their venues, which suited them perfectly,
both fulfilled all their hopes and dreams to start and complete their wedding
day.
They were staying in the town of St Andrews, somewhere else close to their hearts,
and it was from here that they left for their long awaited wedding day. Maurita
was driven to the church in an Ivory Rolls Royce. The little church was steeped
in history, and dates from 1100, with a tiny passage entrance into the church
yard - so small not even the Bridal car could go through it and in true Scottish
tradition, as would have happened in olden times, the piper in full regalia,
met the Bride at the entrance, and she walked behind him as he piped her to the
church.
After the wedding ceremony they left for Castle
Campbell which is nestled in the Ochil Hills, a magical Castle with the most
incredible vista over the famous town of Dollar. It is surrounded by heather
clad hills, a running burn and a wonderful glen - peace and contentment at its
best - and photographs that tell a story for the rest of Mike and Maurita's life.
They finally departed back to St Andrews where the wedding dinner was held.
It was a day filled with fun and laughter and they have memories they will live
with from hereonin - I am sure it will also be a place they will come back and
visit and reminisce - it's a pleasure for us to work with couples who hold Scotland
as dear to them, as it is to ourselves.
Bride and Groom's Kind comments:-
"I think EVERYONE should work with you and George! It was the best decision I could have made. We will always be fans as long as you are in business"
